In this webinar, Marc shares how his cancer diagnosis led to a successful community fundraiser — a story that, from the outside, looked like a hopeful ending. But when the cancer returned, it brought a reckoning that set him on a true path to healing.

Marc Gibbons is a software engineer and two-time cancer survivor. After completing treatment, he founded Port Perry Pedals, a cycling fundraiser that has raised over $120,000 for healthcare in Durham Region.
Today, Marc advocates for greater awareness of the link between alcohol use and cancer risk, and for integrating mental health into the standard of care. He has shared his journey as a speaker at tech conferences, exploring the idea that — like code — our lives sometimes require major breaking changes.
Marc is vice-chair of the Port Perry Hospital Foundation and serves on the Patient-Family Advisory Council at the Durham Regional Cancer Centre. He received the Community Champion Award from the Lakeridge Health Foundation in 2024. He lives in Port Perry, ON.
