    Focus Group Invitation

Healthcare Engagement Strategy Development Consultation and Validation – Canadian Cancer Society

SUBJECT: Your input requested: Canadian Cancer Society’s Healthcare Engagement Strategy

    Dear CAPO members,

You are invited to participate in a virtual focus group as part of developing the Canadian Cancer Society’s (CCS) Healthcare Engagement Strategy. Engaging and collaborating with healthcare professionals is critical to CCS and helps ensure that our work is credible and relevant. With this strategy, we are building on the work that CCS has already done in this area with the aim of improving and enhancing our engagement activities. As a member of CAPO, your feedback and input will be very valuable to inform CCS’s engagement strategy. We hope that the focus group will also provide you with an opportunity to share some of the barriers you face in engaging with charities like CCS, and to potentially become more involved with our work.

Each focus group will take place via Zoom (or you can join by telephone). There are two different focus group time slots available:
    - Thursday, January 23, 1-2 pm Eastern Time
    - Monday, January 27, 12-1 pm Eastern Time

Please register for a focus group here

The deadline to register is Wednesday, January 22, 2025. There are a maximum of 8 spots in each focus group, and spots are allocated on a first come first served basis. The focus groups are available in either English or French.

If you have any questions about the focus group or CCS’s work,
    please contact Jenni Haggie

Canadian Cancer Statistics: A 2024 special report on the economic impact of cancer in Canada was released

Developed in collaboration with the Canadian Cancer Society, Statistics Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada, with data provided by provincial and territorial cancer registries and analyses conducted by Statistics Canada and the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, this publication reveals the substantial financial toll of a cancer diagnosis in Canada, with the average cancer patient grappling with nearly $33,000 in costs including out-of-pocket expenses and lost income during treatment and recovery.

The report is the first of its kind, providing a glimpse into the economic impact of cancer both on patients and the healthcare system itself, including future estimated costs.
